If you look closely you will see paisleys within the paisley motifs. This represents a very meaningful thing, as collectors state that the female weaver was pregnant with this symbolism that was woven, i.e. "mother-child".The rug is old art that was woven with pure love. From a tribe that no longer exists, we know and cherish this rug and the legacy it has and upholds. It's a low wool rug that has aged over a century, woven on a wool foundation, and thus it has a floppy handle. We feel lucky to find this piece, as it is such a a generous size, woven large nearly 5x8 (exact size 4'10 x 8'). Most of these tribal rugs are woven almost exclusively smaller.
The ground color of this rug is deep indigo blue (may appear black), and has earthy rust color ways with complementary colors that give a subtle pop and dance well with this piece. The sparks of steel and aqua blue are eye catching and soothing and you can see the variations of all the phenomenal vegetables dyes; The wool is soft and undoubtedly, its lanolin-rich wool was culled from the tribe's flocks.
