A gallery size piece, for those who want old beauty with a particular size, this one is ready to serve. From the 1880s, this is a P E R S I A N woven by the Kurds and it is beautifully timeworn. It features a large and prominent central diamond medallion filled with paisleys that represent "seeds of life/fertility" on a navy/midnight blue ground.
The rug has a floppy handle and woven on a wool foundation. We took care of this beauty and it is fully intact with a minor area near the middle border that was recently patched (please see pic, but it was done so well, you might miss it). It is in good shape now and ready for its next home.
Low pile. On a wool foundation. Woven with vegetable dyed wool.
