Handwoven in the village of Malayer in Persia, this lovely antique early 1900s Persian rug is interesting due to its nearly square shape at a rare size of 5x6. Geometric tribal designs in an allover intricate pattern in jewel-toned color ways against a rose berry red ground bring energy and warmth. The pattern of the meandering blossom laden vines in the same jewel-tones against the mustard yellow ground in the main border is amazing and frames this adorable rug perfectly.
The wool used was dyed with organic resources, such as vegetables, plants, and flowers, which has given this fantastic rug its awesome coloration. This beauty is thin and has some scattered wear. Please see pictures for details about the character and the condition of this great rug.
Low pile. Scattered wear. Woven with vegetable dyed wool.
