This old Kurdistan tribal runner was hand knotted by Kurdish weavers, a very small minority in areas that are north of Persia. It travels to us from circa 1880-1900 and locks in the amazing and rich history of a lost treasure. You'll notice a worn field of repeating paisleys and eight, amazing and distinct bands in the border!
There is a lot of amazing work and time that went into creating this nearly 6x12 gallery size piece and it also has a very distinctive style weave, called Senneh, which are known to be outstanding and particular rugs that are single wefted and always feature a delicate design (which lends to the gorgeous borders we see!).
We have taken care of this rug and repaired some areas that had loss of wool or wear to foundation to keep its integrity and for it to be enjoyed for decades to come. While it will be a great decorative rug, we don't recommend it to be used in a very high traffic area. Priced at a great value for age, amazing old world quality and style.
We do recommend a rug pad that you can get here to keep this beauty in place. Here is a quick link. We custom cut the rug pads before it ships! https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/large-rug-pad
