This is an antique Shiraz rug woven in the south of Persia that's muted with a more neutral palette. It has a wonderful, floppy handle with wool that is soft and has flex. It's a village rug that has a coarse weave, geometric design and tribal elements and motifs throughout.
It's original dyes were softened through a compound wash, giving this rug a lightened hue that has a lot of demand for many designers and home owners that want to style an old rug that is more subdued. This Persian is super clean, edges are fully bound and the tops and bottoms are fully secured.
Low pile wool. Woven circa 1940.
