5'9 x 9'7 Antique nomadic Baluch rug #1856 / 6x10 Vintage Rug

Regular price $0.01

Here's a very great, floppy and wild 1880s Persian Baluch. This is an old village rug, Baluchi tribe members hand wove this amazing piece, and Baluch rugs stand out to collectors and rug enthusiasts for their distinct look and rarity. What makes this truly rare is that Baluch rugs are woven 99% of the time in 2x4 or 3x5 size as they are nomadic wool rugs that the tribe members would travel with. We feel very lucky to have found a handful of these larger, seldom woven pieces in last 5 years of antique rug hunting.

Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool on a wool foundation. It is all natural, real deal and an original! It has a gorgeous ground color that will vary slightly due to lighting. It has low pile wool in the field, and the borders are remarkable flat weave bands which are incredible as this beauty shows off two different forms of weaving techniques. It has scattered wear and one spot showing muted orange dyes on the field. To see the real condition and character of the piece and the character after a century of life, please see our detailed pics.
