Here's a bold and brilliant antique Khotan with a color story that we don't get to see often. These rugs typically feature dyes and art that have varied cultural and stylistic influences and lend to how they stand out from other antique rugs. Due to the region in which Khotan is situated, which is East Turkestan and along the silk route, these rugs woven have traditional P E R S I A N motifs as well as Chinese design elements. They also take to Tibetan designs as well as Turkish art.
This piece is rich in its beauty and form, with its art spaced that gives more to the independent motifs and their expressive power. It is beautifully worn, woven circa 1900. Please see pics for full condition and character.
