Weaving from the A F S H A R tribe has always been distinct and artistically creative. Produced by nomads and villagers of Southeast P E R S I A, these antique rugs have a great deal of legacy and are considered awesome collectibles. A F S H A R rugs are pretty distinguishable with geometric patterns, boteh (paisleys) that we see here and rusts and burnt orange is commonly seen in their natural dyes. Their lanolin rich wool is culled from their own flocks. The dyes of this piece are well preserved.
This rug is low pile and worn. It's nice and large in room size and with an all over larger scale paisley pattern - it offers ease in styling. All organic, vegetable dyed wool pile on a wool foundation. Worn.
Woven circa 1880. It had some minor tears that have been mended. Please see pics for details.
