7’3 x 9’6 Worn antique Persian Heriz (#1241ML)

Regular price $0.01

Floor art? Yes, please!!

This is a circa 1910 all over pattern, geometric Heriz, woven in the rugged mountains of NW Persia, near Mt. Sabalon. We go bananas for these. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool and worn to absolute perfection, this rug has so much to offer.

At about 7x10 in size, it will definitely make a statement but not dominate the space with it’s delicious character, calm rust-y ground color way and all over pattern design. The all over pattern art makes it easier and fun to style and it is clearly very desirable floor art to enjoy.

This tribal piece has a flat tones since it is so well aged and comes from all natural sources/dyes. The borders are in deep midnight blue color and exquisitely hugs the rug with a beautiful contrast. Nothing synthetic here! Old, fine quality wool, hand knotted and what must have taken a couple years to produce, and undoubtedly, with a few dyers and weavers.

Please make sure to grab a pad for this old baby, to keep it snug and protected. You can order one with us and we’ll custom cut it for you and send along. Click here for the pad -> https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/large-rug-pad

More about this rug: Heriz rugs are known for their outstanding durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Persia," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Persia, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
