7’7 x 10’3 Late 19th Century Persian Mahal rug (#2371)

Regular price $0.01

This magnificent wool rug from Mahal, Persia is a definite head turner. Specifically, it comes from the village of Sultanabad or Meshkabad, where nomadic tribespeople and expert artisans wove some of the most outstanding Mahal rugs that we get to cherish today.

This warm sand ground and floppy Persian is from the 1880s and showcases magnificent geometric motifs, medallions and art with an eye catching color story. Each element on this piece owns its own character and those natural dyes are irresistible that have vivid contrast and remarkable juxtaposition. The brilliance of art and design is outstanding on this wild one. Borders are in midnight blue, but may appear as charcoal to the naked eye.

This late 19th Century piece is low pile and worn through time. Hand knotted with all natural vegetable dyed wool.

We recommend a rug pad for this piece, to keep it in place when styled. You can order one through the shop and we will custom cut it to size and send on order. https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/large-rug-pad
