This is a 1920s Persian Gorevan Heriz in a rare and compact format—measuring 7 x 8’4, it brings all the presence and power of a classic Heriz without the oversized footprint and it has a time softened palette that’s subdued and simply irresistible. Woven in the famed village of Gorevan, this piece is packed with highly stylized tribal art, arranged in a beautifully rhythmic all-over design that balances strength with fluidity. No bold central medallion here—just a tapestry of geometric florals and motifs that feel both grounded and expressive.
Set on a warm ivory ground, the rug carries a nuanced palette of faded blush, dusty denim blues, earthy terracotta, and stonewashed camel tones. Look closely, and you’ll see how nature’s hand left its mark—subtle abrash shifts the dyes from one end of the rug to the other. One side has a richer saturation, while the other feels more mellow and muted, creating movement and dimension. Even the edge guards reflect this evolution—one side finished with golden yellow, the other with a khaki tone, a lovely hallmark of its handmade, vegetable-dyed origins.
The wool is soft, pliable, and beautifully aged. Some areas are more plush, others worn low, but the rug folds with the ease of a well-loved blanket. And it’s not just pretty—it’s durable, clean, and absolutely floor-ready.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool.
