What a treasure to behold! This beautiful antique 1900s Persian Shiraz rug has got quite the personality with its bold tribal designs and moody color ways. Three diamond medallions with lovely tribal elements sit at the center while flanked by a zig zag pattern that highlights the contrasts in colors between the inner and outer areas of the main field. Bird motifs can be seen throughout hinting at the weaver’s lifestyle and their daily interactions with nature. Reminiscent of an MC Escher painting, the main border band’s stair-like tribal design adds a lot of visual interest and frames this wonderful rug perfectly.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, this awesome rug is clean, has a low pile, and a floppy handle. Although it is not best for high traffic areas, it is fully intact with ends that are secure and sides that are fully bound. There is some scattered wear, which is just a reminder of the history of this fantastic piece of floor art. This beauty will bring charm, style, and a soulful presence to any room it occupies. Extended at an amazing value!
PS - the crease lines that you see in photos are just from the fold and they will settle out once the rug is styled.
