This is a really extraordinary antique Turkmen rug in rare form, as these nomadic rugs typically were woven small. From circa 1880, this wool rug on a wool foundation has a very fine weave. It is soft to the touch and has an all over design. The pattern you see are very common amongst these woven rugs.
The octagonal elements throughout are actually elephant footprints. It is also more formally known as Tekkeh or Bokhara design. It was hand knotted by the nomadic tribe with natural resources used to dye the wool (veggies, fruits, plants, flowers).
It is in great condition for its age, parallel to time and history and we have it for a great deal. Here is a similar one, priced higher, similar to brick and mortar value: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/rugs-carpets/persian-rugs/antique-baluch-turkmen-tekke-rug/id-f_20774512/?gclid=CjwKCAiA_Kz-BRAJEiwAhJNY719yZOOoDyh5ymzB53NdPH93Fjm_SH-K0okeiIyNVnMf6q_pw4B_MBoC4VYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
