This handsome antique 1920s Persian rug from the Afshar tribe is a portal to the past, offering a tangible connection to the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the weavers who created it. A diamond medallion sits at the center surrounded by tribal motifs, such as the cypress tree which symbolizes the joy of the soul. A symbol of Persian identity, clusters of paisley motifs can be seen throughout as well. A bold hexagonal shape adds visual interest as tribal motifs swirl about it, giving this awesome rug an energetic and spirited presence. The border bands are intricately detailed framing this amazing rug perfectly.
Handwoven with wool that was dyed using natural resources, such as vegetables, flowers, and plants, that have provided a wonderful color story of vibrant colors. Woven on a wool foundation, this rug is heavy weighted and has a good pile (just look at that pinch of wool in the picture), and would be fine in a high traffic area. It's in great shape with wool that is lanolin rich and is an exceptional deal for age, quality, value, and history!
