7'5 x 8'2 square antique Persian Heriz Rug

Regular price $0.01

This low pile and large vintage Persian Heriz rug beams with a unique style and size. It will be a great addition to a home needing warmth in color and maybe even temperature! We often get these mountain tribal rugs in rectangular shape, but this rug was once upon a time made custom for a particular owner in its 100 years of time and was professionally reduced to this size. It'll be perfect for the client that loves geometric woven art and needs a size this rare.

The all over pattern geometric design is very favored in these rugs from Northwest Persia and we scoop them up as often as we can. The rug is hand knotted with luxurious and coarse wool and you will definitely feel the quality of this 1920s work of art! The rug's colors have some natural fade and lightly scattered wear, earned through time. A great deal for a true heirloom.

Fun facts: Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their strength & durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Iran," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Iran, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
