7x10 Antique Persian Tribal Rug #2762

Regular price $0.01

Behold this gorgeous antique 1920s Persian rug from the Shiraz region, a true masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship that embodies the beauty and essence of traditional Persian weaving. Shiraz rugs were handwoven by women at home on fixed looms that infused them with the family element. Using more coarse wool than their tribal counterparts, they can be spotted easily with their similar designs and color stories.

Three-poled medallions with an intricate design pattern and beautiful color ways is rich in symbolism and tells a story of the region's cultural heritage.  Peacocks can be seen throughout the rug, representing Persian culture and a spiritual vibe. To ward off the evil eye, a well-known tribal motif of a snake or S hook, has also been woven in to promote safety and protection.

Like tiled works of art, the border bands pop with vibrant colors and a bold graphic design that is sure to catch attention. Woven with vegetable dyed wool on a wool foundation, it has a floppy handle and is super clean and you can also see the beautiful abrash on the rug, indicating the different batches of veg dyed wool used.

Although it is more worn in the main field than on the colorful border bands, the edges are bound and the top and bottom are secure. Where it is less worn it has a higher wool pile and is softer to the touch.

Owning this antique Persian rug is like owning a piece of history that will only increase in value over time. It is a statement piece that will add warmth and beauty to any room, a conversation starter that will be cherished for generations to come.
