Delivered here is one amazing, distressed Persian rug that we're proud to have found and brought into the BPR collection. With around 150 years of age from the village of Mahal, its patina is remarkable and it has so much character and history to offer. It has a small scale all over design and was woven with vegetable dyed wool on a wool foundation. This beauty will be easy to style and it'll transform the space it lives in, immensely.
If you notice in the field, there are many eight-pointed stars. This special star is an archetypal symbol that has appeared in cave drawings, basically since the dawn of mankind. The stars represent a person's potential for inner wisdom and understanding. The weavers believed that wisdom was true wealth and that it may be obtained through the striving one made amidst the many challenges of one’s daily activities. Very meaningful, right?
The antique tribal rug weavers lived an elemental lifestyle with minimal possessions and we cherish these heirlooms and the song and story that is in within each knot and it is no accident how these old treasures happen to become the most desirable antique rugs. The art is simply amazing.
This is definitely deemed a special antique rug, with the rare form, amazing age and with such a beautiful weave. It is a definite prize to have and we can see why, but finding one is not easy!
