Worn and floppy, this village rug comes from Mahal, in P E R S I A. Woven in the 1920s, this antique rug has floral motifs throughout with a skinnier width than we typically see on a rug of nearly 15 feet in length. It was likely handwoven on commission because the size does feel custom.
The wool on this piece has wear based on use and history. Please see pics. The borders have a bit more wool pile, while the main field has scattered to heavy wear. The rug is intact and ready to serve another century of life. Extended at great value for age, size and type of rug.
Low pile and woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
