This is a stunning, low pile, antique Persian Tabriz rug from early 20th Century with a rare and extraordinary ground color. The rug shows off various shades of natural dyes, illustrating the different batches of dye used. The weave of this rug is super fine and the wool is superior, with sheen and it is soft to the touch.
It was woven in one of the epicenters of rug weaving, which is Tabriz. The area to which this rug was woven is known for a really tight weave and Tabriz rugs are collected for this very reason as it is a fine Oriental Rug which has prestige.
This Tabriz is in excellent condition, especially considering its age. It is low pile and has one tiny patch (please see pic). It is one of our rugs in the collection that stands out from the crowd and is nothing short of royal.
Hand woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool from circa 1920.
