Hailing from the village of Mahal, this beautiful antique 1920s Persian is a real treat to see and it is absolutely FUN! The ivory ground is rare and provides a wonderful neutral backdrop to the lovely Mina Khani floral lattice design with adorable stylized round repeated flower heads. There are happy spring colors on this beauty such as sage green, pistachio green, baby blue, coral and rose pink, French blue, navy blue, tan, pale yellow and pops of midnight blue. The floral field is highly decorative and has a great aesthetic appeal with a very desired work of art.
The border is intricate and narrow vs wide and pronounced, and its has a fabulous rose pink and sage green combination that is not commonly seen in Persian rugs. Abrash can also be seen in the border bands, which is where the women who were weaving this great rug changed the wool lot they were weaving with. They likely ran out and had to switch it up! Floral motifs in the borders complete the look of this amazing rug. This rug is low pile but you'll definitely feel the village wool and it'll keep you warm at night!
Handwoven with superior wool that was dyed with natural materials, such as vegetables, plants, and flowers, the color story is very pleasing to the eye. It has a nice floppy handle to it and can be easily styled with its generous and lovely all over design. This beauty will add charm, playfulness, and elegance to any space it calls home.
