Her color story is gorgeous and you'll see great shocks of teal too! This worn rug is from 1880-1900 and like most Agra, what really separates it from Persian rugs is the ground color. You'll see the antique ivory ground is a rarely seen color. It is large and in charge and the rug is worn, but has a sturdy and stout handle.
Antique Indian Agra carpets are considered some of the most decorative pieces known internationally. They are heavy and extremely durable wool rugs and the artisans learned to weave when they learned how from the Persians in the 17th Century.
