One of the amazing things about antique Persian rugs is their exceptional quality. They were not made in an assembly line, but diligently handwoven with the best materials available by master craftswomen. Each woven pattern found in a beautiful Persian rug is a unique interpretation of traditional motifs; making it a one of a kind.
This fantastic antique 1920’s Heriz rug from the NW Mountains of Persia is a great example of excellent quality and a remarkable style. With a gorgeous Mina Khani design in the main field against a rust red ground, this lovely rug shows off an all-over pattern that we don’t often get to set our eyes on and the array of charming floral elements are an absolute delight.
The way the main field pattern was woven, it looks like a beautiful tile mosaic you’d find in a palace garden with its gorgeous color story and symmetrical style. The captivating main border with floral and serrated line motifs against a midnight blue ground tie it all together superbly.
Woven with wool that was dyed with natural materials, such as vegetables, plants, roots, and other organic sources, it has aged perfectly. With a very distinct style that departs from many Heriz rugs we see, this Persian is in wonderful condition, has a low pile, and is one that stands out from the crowd. Color story includes ivory, cornflower blue, golden yellow, and hints of pistachio green.
