This is an antique Persian Ferahan Sarouk from the early 1900s with a beautiful floral design on an ivory ground. The character of this rug is exquisite with beautiful wear, earned through time. It is large and commands attention with the artwork and intricate detail. The borders are sensational, with lovely vegetable dyes that pop and frames this Persian remarkably well. This is nothing but a large, royal and classical Persian! Actually, it's really true. Ferahan Sarouks were woven for the elite in Persia and they have a great deal of value. A definite heirloom.
Take a good look at this irresistible rug. We love how graceful it is and what it will do for the space it will live in. Oh, the french blue, the coral and the rust and abrash (variation of dyes/shades throughout) are divine. The indigo blue central medallion stands out and the ivory ground is what we always seek for and rarely find. This baby is a great catch and at a great value for a fine Persian.
Low pile. Has a small patch. Please see pics for condition and detail. Durable with amazing old world wool that will last for centuries more. Please note that this is a hand woven rug and is not perfectly rectangular as a result. It took years to weave and has natural one of a kind character.
Hand knotted with all natural dyes, circa 1900.
