From circa 1900, this remarkable Persian with fine detail is a Sultanabad Mahal. These particular village rugs are more unusual and harder to find, they are the elite of the Mahal weavings. Sultanabad are a cut above in beauty and the wool they used is finer that those of regular Mahal Persians. They simply hold a special place in carpet world and they have a history of rug weaving that goes back to the mid-17th century. Demand for these carpets never rest as today, many designers love to search for an pick up these pieces and they are excellent pieces of floor art.
We have a lot of pics to show this old baby off with its captivating colors in rust tone and with an ultra exquisite blue in the border that frames the rug perfectly. It is low pile, in great condition for its age and it has a soft and floppy handle.
