Antique Indian Agra carpets are considered some of the most decorative pieces known internationally. They are heavy and extremely durable wool rugs and the artisans learned to weave when they learned how from the Persians in the 17th Century.
Agra to help reference and locate is actually home to the Taj Mahal. This beautiful antique rug is from 1880-1900 and like most Agra, what really separates it from Persian rugs are the color ways. This wonderful heirloom showcases irresistible lavender and maroon. This old world rug has a sturdy handle and a field full of paisleys outlined by lovely flower heads. We have given this antique rug some TLC and mended some small areas to keep this ancient rug intact to serve for generations to come. Please see detailed pics for character and condition.
