If you’ve been around antique Heriz rugs for a while, you know they don’t come with soft personalities. They’re bold and tribal.

This 1920s Persian Heriz has all the angular drawing that makes these rugs so recognizable. The geometric medallion is strong, the corners are full of stylized motifs, and the whole rug has that rugged, slightly edgy look that Heriz collectors tend to love. The vegetable dyed wool is rich with saturated brick red, deep navy, sky blue, ivory, coral, green, teal green, navy, slate blue, pink, soft yellow, and touches of golden camel throughout.

There are scattered areas where the wool has worn down to the foundation, but the rug itself is completely solid. It has a stout, sturdy handle, lays beautifully on the floor, and is ready for everyday living without needing to be babied. It’s rugged and durable.

All of the edges have been professionally overcast, meaning they’ve been wrapped with protective binding around the entire perimeter. It’s a clean way to reinforce the edges while helping preserve the rug for many more years of use. A couple of pro patches on the rug, for areas that needed some TLC.
