This beautiful antique Persian Tabriz rug has an intricate small scale Herati design of fish circulating around flower heads in a neutral color scheme that would create a sense of serenity in any space. The soft browns and beiges with hints of faint lavender against a dark tan ground add depth and dimension to the all over symmetrical pattern.
With a very sturdy cotton foundation, this charming rug is stout, solid and extremely durable even though it is a low wool pile rug. There is scattered wear and gradient changes in dyes due to age and the life this wonderful rug has led.
Woven circa 1920, this lovely rug was woven in Tabriz, a city world famous for their time-honored tradition of rug weaving. This gorgeous rug exemplifies the very qualities antique Persian rugs are sought after and revered for; stunning designs, fine wools and organic vegetable dyes, and craftsmanship. With that said, it is as much a beauty today as it was when it was first woven.
