It's square and rare. With a sensational ivory field, about 10x10 which is like finding a needle in a haystack, this 19th Century Persian is a superior Serapi.
Serapi rugs are considered one of the most distinct and harder to find Persians due to their age, style, superior wool and tribal weave. There happens to be one in the White House. It is a Persian rug of choice and there is good reason for it and no wonder why these rare, tribal rugs retail for minimum $35K and up! It is not easy to find Serapi and to find one square is one in a million.
The natural dyes here are on the master level to result in this superb work of impactful art. You will see the "abrash" in the rug, which are the natural dye variations throughout, breathing so much character or existence of great age.
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool circa 1870-1880 in Northwest Persia. Please note, this is an ANTIQUE rug. It is not perfectly straight as it took several months or years, with several women on the loom to create.
Low pile with scattered wear that was earned through time.
Due to our rock bottom pricing of this Serapi, there is no trade discount offered on this particular rug.
