This is a hand woven antique Persian rug and we love that it is in a rare, square form. On a sand ground and woven in the northeastern province of Mashhad, this lovely rug offers highly detailed floral art and was woven circa 1880.
At the top of the rug, you will notice the master weaver wove his name in the border in beautiful form. The color ways are bold and plentiful, showing off such exquisite natural dyes that took to this rug.
Mashaad is a major producer of valued rugs for hundreds of years and known to have some of the finest wool in their rugs. This piece has is a low, wool pile on cotton foundation and with scattered wear. Very sturdy and well woven. The multiple bands of the midnight blue and aqua blue borders are extraordinary and beautifully frame this old rug.
Hand knotted with all natural dyes derived from plant, vegetable, root and flowers. The real deal!
