All over covered floral-geometric art on top of a deep, midnight blue field with a smaller, non typical central medallion, this old baby aims to please. With gorgeous vine work, foliage and an inspired style, this Northwest Persian rug hand knotted over 100+ years ago has exceptional artistic merit throughout with phenomenal vegetable dyed wool colors. Thus, the wool has been dyed naturally from plant, vegetable, flower and mineral sources to achieve its color.

The phenomenal design on this rug makes it truly unique as we rarely see Heriz rugs with this work of art. It is low pile with beautiful scattered wear and in beautiful love-worn condition. The borders feature turtle elements on a mauve-magenta ground that frames the field of the rug so beautifully.

Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their strength & durability. They were woven in the Northwest corner of Iran, on and near the rugged mountains of Mount Sabalan. Heriz carpets have coarse and durable wool as Mount Sabalan sits on a resource of large deposits of copper that trace in the water of the sheep that drink it. The wool of Heriz with withstand abuse and it is resilient and durable. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
