9'1 x 11'8 Antique Persian Heriz rug #1673ML

Regular price $0.01

Showcase your historical interests with this beautiful antique 1920’s Persian Heriz rug. The rectilinear medallion of the central field displays multiple ground colors in brick red, ivory, midnight blue, and cornflower blue, with geometric botanical motifs that have been woven in a unique pattern that makes this lovely rug a one-of-a-kind.

The main ground is in a brick red with elements including ram’s horns and bereket symbols of fertility.

The spandrels also include a variety of ground colors in ivory, brick red, and a sapphire blue with hints of pistachio and hunter green in the design. The main border with a midnight blue ground also includes the herati motif which can symbolize good luck.

This classic Heriz rug from Northwest Persia has a nice mix of powerful aged dyes and symbols that illustrate the values most cherished by the women who wove it. They used natural materials to dye the wool, such as vegetables, plants, roots, and other organic resources. Although there is some scattered wear, it was handwoven to last beyond a lifetime. The wear spots you’ll see most evident is near the central medallion. At a great value!
