The color ways and style on this remarkable Persian definitely makes this rug stand out from the crowd. This is a Malayer and we often see this rugs woven in a smaller, scatter size. The artisans rarely created these village rugs in a large size. It has a Herati design in the field, that is, fish surrounding flower heads and the small scale all over design makes it a cinch to style. The borders frame this rug superbly with lovely contrast and if you look closely, you'll see lavendar in parts of this Persian, a natural dye we seldom see.
The rug has a lot of abrash (variation of dyes used with different batches of wool the women used to weave) and this lends to its amazing art and character that we definitely celebrate.
This rug is low pile and in excellent condition. Woven in the 1920s. It has a beautiful, floppy handle.
