This classic antique 1940s Persian Heriz rug gives new meaning to the phrase, “Tapestry of Life”, with its intricate designs and bold color story. The crispy and edgy floral geometric art throughout this gorgeous rug shows off the weaver’s masterful eye for detail and culminates in an exquisite sublime design reminiscent of a full life lived.
A central medallion draws the eye toward it with pops of cornflower blue. The focal point in the center is surrounded by an ornate eight-pointed star with a midnight blue ground, symbolic of the complex inner life we all live. The field shows off highly decorative rectilinear motifs that expand out and meet the corner spandrels on an ivory ground with edgy detail that anchors the piece with weight. Finally, the beautiful and dark border band in midnight blue ground as well as charcoal ground due to the exquisite abrash, frames the rug perfectly.
Handwoven with wool from the Northwest mountains of Persia, it is durable and in great condition with saturated dyes. The wool was dyed using natural resources, such as vegetables, plants, and flowers and has a low pile. At nearly 10x13, this fabulous rug is a wonderful grand size and will bring style and a soulful presence to any space it resides in.
