A seriously special 1920s Persian Kerman coming in at 9’9 x 12’9…and she’s got that some roar and subtle power. This is one of those rugs… you’re either completely in or it’s not your thing at all. There’s no middle. It hits you right away and you know.
It showcases all over floral field that just keeps giving. You’ll see delicate sprays, curving lines, and those beautifully drawn motifs that feel almost weightless across the surface. Then you hit that border…deep navy, loaded with ornate detail, framing the whole thing with real presence.
Ok and the abrash on this one, that’s what will make the heart sing, especially toward one end, it’s is where it gets really good. Natural dye shifts doing their thing…soft highs, deeper lows, all from vegetable dyed wool showing off its range. Nothing flat here… it moves. Tightly woven and labor intensive, the kind of work that came from incredibly skilled female hands. You feel it in the structure…sturdy, grounded, woven (and tightly) to last.
The blues are a standout…layered, nuanced, and a big part of what makes this piece feel so unique. Durable, beautifully aged, and in nice condition for a 1920s Kerman… with that one of a kind energy old rugs either have… or don’t. This one absolutely does.
