A really good one here…an antique 1920s Persian Malayer bringing that easy, lived-in magic. Sized at 9'8 x 11'4 and handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, it carries a sun-kissed blush ground that’s softened and shifted over time… exactly what you want to see from natural dyes doing their thing. The variation of abrash across the field is sensational, while those deep inky blues draws everything into focus.
The design runs in a strong all-over linear tribal layout… rhythmic, balanced, and with great composition. Border bands hold it all together with paisley and classic tribal motifs that frame the piece with bold floral art, without overpowering the field. Low pile and strong like a champ, with that blush and blue that’s ever attractive. There are a few tiny moments where the pile dips down to the foundation, but the structure is solid and sound. She’s stout, sturdy, and ready to keep going. Please see pics for full character and condition.
Great art, great scale, and that kind of color story that just works without trying too hard. Old rugs rule… and this one makes a strong case. Please check out the short video clip below to see this rug also in action.
