This old rug is here to quietly transform a room into something that feels like it has always been exactly right. The palette is the story. Mellowed vegetable dyes that have had a century to find their perfect register: soft lavender, dusty purple, blush, peach, ivory...colors you simply do not see in this combination on antique rugs, but that is what Agra rugs are about...they're natural dyes are irresistible and different.
The design is lattice-like with an elegant, almost architectural framework that holds the most beautiful floral work inside each cell. Refined. Considered. The kind of pattern that rewards you the longer you look at it.
Her wool is a little dry and the pile is low, worn pretty evenly across the field. Some minor breaks in the wool here and there. But her construction is solid and her bones are excellent. As long as she sits styled, she will serve and delight for generations more. These old Agras are built to last when they're respected. Photos show warmer and cooler tones based on angle and natural lighting when photographed.
Uncommon colors. Uncommon piece. Full stop.
