Antique Kazak Rug / 3'4 x 5'4 Kazak Rug #3450

Regular price $1,200.00

This antique 1900s Kazak rug, handwoven by nomadic mountain weavers north of Persia, exemplifies the classic contrasting vegetable dye colors Kazak rugs are renowned for. The rug features a striking poled medallion adorned with a Ram's horn motif, symbolizing strength and masculinity. The main field also has dashes of the S-hook motif, believed to offer protection against the evil eye.

A distinctive characteristic of this rug is the abrash seen between the dark and light blue areas in the main field. This natural variation occurs when a new batch of vegetable dyed wool is introduced, adding intrigue, authenticity, and making it truly a one-of-a-kind.

Beautiful border bands enhance its decorative appeal and include the eight-pointed star, symbolizing happiness and fertility, against an ivory ground. Made from 100% vegetable-dyed wool, this low pile rug is in good condition for its age, reflecting the craftsmanship behind its creation and the durability of the wool itself.
