Handwoven in the 1920s by the Bakhtiari tribes of western Persia, this rug carries all the hallmarks that many hope to find: good, durable weaving, vegetable-dyed wool, and a great balance between bold tribal artistry and refined village craftsmanship.
This Persian has healthy low pile, yet still holds plenty of natural lanolin. As you walk around it, little flashes of sheen catch the light, a beautiful reminder of the quality of the old wool that photographs never quite manage to capture.
The design has wonderful structure. Bold ivory outlines create an almost architectural framework for it, while floral motifs throughout are in rich brick reds, midnight blues, mossy greens, dusty coral, and soft sky blues.
This isn't a quiet rug. It has confidence, weight, and good bones. It has some minor loss of wool, but still intact with foundation. Please see pic with my hand in it.
