Hand knotted in the 1930s in the rugged mountains of northwest Persia, this Heriz has all the bold, architectural geometry the region is famous for. A procession of stepped medallions lines up confidently down the rich crimson field, surrounded by lively tribal artwork that keeps your eye wandering from one wonderful detail to the next.
The midnight blue border is the perfect frame, packed with colorful tribal motifs that make the rug feel every bit as energetic as the field itself. The vegetable-dyed wool has aged beautifully, offering vibrant shades of crimson, deep navy, sky blue, camel, ivory, and soft celadon that still feel remarkably fresh after nearly a century.
Built with the famously stout Heriz weave, it remains wonderfully durable with a healthy shorter wool pile and only minimal scattered wear consistent with its age. It has all the strength to handle busy everyday living while bringing a playful dose of old rug magic wherever it lands.
