Woven in the 1920s, this antique Persian Heriz has all the graphic energy these rugs are loved for, but with a moodier personality thanks to its deep navy field. The rust and terracotta border frames the composition well and there’s a myriad of amazing colors throughout.
Angular botanical forms are sprawled across the field like a geometric garden, creating movement from every direction. It has that unmistakable architectural quality that makes Heriz rugs feel just as at home in a traditional space as they do in a modern one.
The vegetable dyed wool has aged beautifully. It has some scattered wear, consistent with its century of life, adding to the old rug magic and character that shows off its history.
The rug has been professionally washed, and the side bindings have been completely redone by hand, and it’s ready for its next chapter. There is one older dark stain along the border, shown in the photos, that has long since settled into the rug’s story. Structurally, it’s stout, sturdy, and ready for many more years of use.
If you’re drawn to rugs with strong tribal character, graphic impact, and a bit of edge, this Heriz delivers all of it in one unforgettable piece. Please see the video clip on this Persian below.
