Let's be upfront about this one... she's been through some things.
This is a battered and bruised early 1900s Persian Soumak, a flat weave warrior who has clearly lived a very full life. Rips, tears, and a cotton backing added for reinforcement to hold her together. She is not pretending to be something she isn't. She'll hold down and ground a space with great history and character.
Vegetable dyes throughout that have only deepened and mellowed with time into the most beautiful, complex palette.
This is for the person who sees past condition and straight to character. She would be stunning mounted on a wall, draped over a console, layered under another rug, or placed in a very low traffic spot where she can be admired without taking more abuse. She is not a hallway rug. She is not a kitchen rug. She is a piece of history that deserves a gentle retirement somewhere beautiful. Please see pics for full character and condition.
One of a kind. Irreplaceable. $400 for something that came from the hands of a weaver over 100 years ago...
