Say hello to this little star! Handwoven around 1920 by a female artisan in the village of Bibikabad, this antique Persian scatter rug is mat size and packed with individual history and artisanal character. Hand-knotted with high-quality wool rich in natural sheep’s lanolin, it delivers a touchably soft, full pile with a soft, radiant sheen. This old baby has a soft, full wool pile...you can run your hand across it and swoon.
Its moody ground shade illustrates a deep carmine ruby and a dusty, berry-pink mauve. Rich, all-natural vegetable dyes bring the central field to life, showing off a beautifully balanced floral motif accented by pops of turmeric yellow, aqua, navy, pistachio, and mossy green.
Perfect as a standalone statement, this little treasure is a versatile jewel and will look just as gorgeous draped over a table or credenza as it does laid on the floor or displayed on the wall as woven art. You can get creative on what to do with it.
This piece also has two sister rugs crafted in the exact same village style and color way - explore the rest of the family here and here!
