Check out this amazing antique 100% vegetable dyed wool Persian Yomut bag face…a piece of the past that can be used in so many different ways. This old being is rich, moody, and downright luxurious. This is a slice of nomadic history that’s practically glowing with sheen and lanolin oils trapped in fine wool.
Arranged across the deep, dark ground are classic Yomut göls, the distinct geometric, shield-like tribal emblems passed down through generations. Flanked by sharp, stylized borders and pops of crisp ivory, crimson, and subtle blue, every line tells a story of nomadic tradition, identity, and tribal heritage woven right into the pile.
Originally, this was the fabulous front panel of a massive storage sack woven by Yomut women for storing clothes and essentials inside their tents or on pack animals. They wove these bags in one long piece, with a decorative pile or flat-weave front face and a plain, boring back. Amazing, right? Over years of hard travel, those utilitarian backs wore out, got cut away, leaving only the beautiful front panel to survive as the prized collectible textile you see today.
So what can you do with it? Anything! Hang it on your wall, lay it out as a small rug, or even repurpose it into a stunning lumbar pillow. This is a truly superb piece that's ready to bring some vintage style to your space.
