Worn Antique Tribal Caucasian Runner / 3'5 x 8'8 Runner #4143

Regular price $1,900.00

Have a look at this antique tribal runner, crafted in the 1880s, telling its story through symbolic design. It’s from the Caucasus mountains, a nomadic runner, handwoven with vegetable dyed wool and it stretches nearly 9 feet with a worn, floppy handle that shows its many years of life and use. The main field glows in burnt sienna, patterned with octagonal motifs and tribal symbols that carried deep meaning for the nomadic female weaver who created it.

Eight-pointed stars, ram’s horns, and animal motifs appear throughout, each representing abundance, strength, or connection to nature. The ivory border adds contrast and brightness, filled with motifs that symbolize love and unity, while a protective fence pattern runs along the border band to safeguard all that is good within the piece.

Its low wool pile and wool foundation keep it flexible, with raw fringes that highlight the natural beauty of the wool. Perfect for a hallway or narrow space, this beauty balances history, artistry, and practicality in one long, storied textile.

Worn. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool.

Exact Size: 3'5 x 8'8
