Flat weave runners are their own category of wonderful...and this one is a great example of why. She's got that floppy, drapey, relaxed handle. It's what makes a kilim feel like a piece of clothing rather than a floor covering. She moves. She drapes. She lives.
But here's the detail that strikes home... look closely at the border. See that fence-like geometric border running along the side? At one point it shifts, the whole column nudges over, just slightly, as if the weaver reconsidered mid-row and kept going anyway. That's not a mistake, but a human hand making a decision at the loom, captured in wool for over a century. You will never find another kilim with that exact shift in that exact place. That is what one of a kind actually means.
She may show a wrinkle or two when she first arrives, that's just flat weave being flat weave. She'll settle and mellow once she's down and styled. And BPR is including a custom-cut rug pad on the house to keep her wiggle free and protected.
