From our legacy collection, this is a late 19th Century heirloom rug in a 13x20 palatial size. It showcases royal and traditional art on a warm ivory field, boasting with a grand central medallion and a majestic border with multiple bands with each one displaying detailed and outstanding artisan work.
The floral design in the field has delicate vine art with remarkable form and movement. Within the field are four corner spandrels with Mahi (fish) art. This is a low pile rug and with time earned scattered wear. It's a P E R S I A N, specifically a Sultanabad, the upper tier of the Mahal village rugs.
It has 140 years of age and woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool. This rug has a heavy duty body and will have a grand presence to elevate the space it will be styled in. Please note: One corner of the rug has has some wear and tear that has been reinforced to keep its integrity its ready for another century of life.
