This beautiful antique 1880’s Qashqai runner is the perfect floor art to show off your interest in history. Handwoven by the famous Qashqai tribe, the wonderful tribal art represents the values they hold dear to their hearts.
Geometric medallions with a checker-like pattern and ram’s horn border project a feeling of power and strength, while floral patterns in sage green, ivory, navy blue, and butter yellow stand out against a rose red ground, conveying a sense of cheerfulness and warmth.
Peacock motifs can be seen throughout, symbolizing immortality and the idea of transcendent beauty, while the interesting ivory border pattern appears to be human-like figures that may represent the hope for a child or the expectation of a baby. Again, all of these tribal symbols highlighting the values that were most important to the Qashqai tribe.
This fantastic rug has a floppy handle with a wool foundation. The handwoven wool was dyed using organic materials such as vegetables, plants, and flowers. Amazingly, this beauty was signed by the weaver. Although there is some loss of wool [see pics for character and condition], this awesome rug was made to last and can be cherished for another lifetime.
