This is a late 19th Century hand woven Mashhad rug, from NE Persia. Sitting on a dark sand ground, it is worn to perfection and has been naturally distressed through time, which makes this rug all the more desirable for those who seek such aged character.
It showcases paisleys throughout, with art that will be easy to style. Mashhad is a major producer of Persian rugs for hundreds of years and known to have some of the finest wool in their rugs.
This rug is low pile and still durable to take on life for another century or more. Handwoven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool, circa 1880.
