Early 1900s Persian Heriz from the mountainous Northwest region, handwoven with vegetable dyed wool. The field features linear rows of wild and decorative botanical motifs that float across a terracotta red ground kissed with rust undertones. The design feels alive, filled with unexpected rhythm and painterly contrast, especially with those bold shocks of aquamarine blue that punctuate the pattern throughout.
The midnight blue main border frames the piece beautifully, carrying turtle motifs that create a striking contrast against the warm center. Smaller flower-filled guard borders soften the transition and add balance. The wool pile is low and dense making it heavy duty and strong under hand, while the marbled ground color gives a sense of movement and depth that only age and natural dyes can produce.
In great condition for its century-old life, this Heriz holds both structure and soul...a durable work of art woven to last and to keep turning heads for generations.
