This first quarter 20th century Persian Malayer carries that unmistakable village rhythm paired with a grounded, confident build. The floral motifs drift and repeat with a natural cadence, creating a sense of motion that feels organic and alive rather than locked into place.
The compound wash has gently muted the original natural dyes, softening the palette into a beautifully settled range of tones. The ocean slate ground with beautiful strokes of abrash sets a calm foundation, layered with floral movement in warmed neutrals, parchment, soft browns, and quiet mineral notes. As light shifts across the rug, the design subtly rises and falls, giving the surface depth and dimension without demanding attention.
Construction here is solid. This is a stout, well woven wool rug with good weight and integrity. The wool pile is low and even, the weave is sound, and both ends and sides are fully secured, making it an excellent candidate for everyday living. What really stands out is how the pattern flows. There’s a gentle push and pull between the florals and negative space, allowing the eye to travel across the rug without interruption.
The rug is clean and floor ready.
